Oliver Betschart was the sole Bermudian athlete in action on Day 11 of the Junior Pan American Games in Paraguay, as he began his campaign in the men’s individual golf tournament.
Betschart faced a challenging opening round at the Asunción Golf Club, finishing with a score of 7-over par 79. The young golfer struggled on the front nine, making the turn at 3-over after a round that included one birdie, four pars, and four bogeys.
His back nine was a slight improvement, as he showed resilience to find some form. Betschart carded one birdie and five pars, but a bogey and two double bogeys ultimately impacted his final score for the day.
With two more rounds of competition remaining, Betschart will be focused on a bounce-back performance as he looks to climb the leaderboard and make his mark on the tournament.
