Robinson Competes in World Jump Rope Championships

IslandStats.com
Ajani Robinson isn’t a hop, skip and a jump from his home of Hamilton, Bermuda. But hopping, skipping, and jumping has given him a chance to travel all over.

Robinson, a rising star at William Peace University, competes in high-level jump rope competitions, something he got into when he was 12.

Robinson’s goal was to do well at the World Championships in Japan.

While in Japan, Robinson also served as a judge, Robinson said, “I served as a judge for World Jump Rope Championships Prelims and Finals, it was an experience and privilege getting to judge these routines.

If you know me at all you know me and judging have a horrible relationship. I'm glad while I was on my panels I judge every routine I had with accuracy and gave each of them the scores they deserved. To the athletes I judged there were moments I lost my own composure simply because I couldn’t believe what I was watching. However while watching these routines I couldn’t help but feel like I wanted to be on the floor more than I did at that table.

By 2027 I want to feel confident that my contributions to judging creates judges 10 times better than I am now. I also served as a video replay judge pretty much every day I wasn’t doing anything, that room was my second home in Japan.”

As an athlete competing in his 4th Worlds, this one was Robinson’s most successful, winning 2 medals in IOT, a 3rd place prelims finish for wheel which dropped down to 5th in finals.

Robinson was proud of what he put on the floor but this competition has left him as an athlete with something, “In the past I’ve felt my passion as a competitor start to diminish however this worlds lit that fire right back up I feel that passion again and I know I’m not even close to being done and I can’t wait to come back 10 times stronger ready for round 2 with a passion 100% times bigger than the one that was lit here”, concluded Robinson.
