Junior Pan Am Games Day Seven Update

IslandStats.com
It was a day of mixed fortunes for Bermudian athletes at the Junior Pan American Games, with the rugby team facing a challenging opening day and sailors holding their positions after a lack of wind.

Rugby

The Bermuda rugby team took to the field for a triple-header of matches. In their opening contest, they were defeated by a powerful Argentina side with a final score of 51-7. Bermuda’s lone try came from Aiden Kendall with just three minutes remaining in the match, who also added the conversion.

In their second game, the team was shut out 24-0 by the host nation, Paraguay. They conceded 75 points in their first two games while only scoring seven.

In their final match of the day, Bermuda showed significant improvement, putting in a determined performance in a 28-12 defeat to Trinidad. Tries for Bermuda came from Luke Summers and Jayson Simons, with Brandon Todd Sangster and Kendall adding a conversion each.

Sailing

On the water, it was a frustrating day for Bermuda's sailors as Day Two of racing was cancelled due to a lack of wind. The results from the opening day of the regatta were therefore unchanged.

Sebastian Kempe remained in second place in the ILCA7 Fleet, building on his strong start from the previous day. In the ILCA6 Fleet, Nicole Stovell is now in eighth place, a slight improvement after appeals in both of her races on Day One moved her up a spot in each. Both sailors will be hoping for better conditions and a return to racing in the days to come.
