Bermudian sprinter Caitlyn Bobb delivered a superb performance in the Women's 400m Dash preliminaries at the 5th NACAC Athletics Championship, but will be unable to compete in the final due to a schedule conflict.
Competing in Heat One, Bobb finished a highly respectable third with a time of 52.03 seconds. She crossed the line behind winner Lynna Irby-Jackson of the United States and Bahamian Olympic Gold Medalist Shaunae Miller-Uibo, who won a gold medal at the 2012 Carifta Games in Bermuda.
Bobb's time was the sixth fastest overall in the preliminaries, a result that would have earned her a coveted spot in the final. However, a late change to the NACAC schedule means the final conflicts with her commitments at the Junior Pan Am Games in Paraguay, forcing her to withdraw from the race.
Bobb's performance against a world-class field is a testament to her talent and a positive step in her competitive season.
