Bermuda's Under-19 cricket team faced a tough outing against Canada in their third match of the ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup Americas Qualifier, suffering a heavy eight-wicket defeat.
With both teams holding a one-and-one record heading into the match at the Param Veers Sports Complex, the toss was won by Canada, who elected to field first.
The decision paid off immediately as Canada's bowlers, led by the impressive Jagmandeep Paul, tore through the Bermudian batting order. Paul finished with outstanding figures of three wickets for just seven runs from his three overs. Bermuda was eventually bowled out for a meagre 60. Three batsmen, Luke Horan, Isaiah O'Brien, and Callum McIntosh, were the joint top scorers for Bermuda, each contributing 13 runs to the total.
In reply, Canada made short work of the target, reaching 62 for 2 in just 4.5 overs to secure a comprehensive victory. Aryan Sidhu was the standout for Canada with the bat, hitting a rapid 35 not out. Luke Horan was the only bright spot with the ball for Bermuda, taking both of Canada's wickets to fall, finishing with figures of 2-23.
The result leaves Bermuda with a one-win, two-loss record in the tournament.
