Day Two of the Junior Pan American Games is in full swing in Paraguay, with Bermudian athletes making their mark in the swimming pool.

Bermuda's archers have had a day of impressive performances at the Junior Pan American Games, putting themselves firmly in contention for a bronze medal in the Mixed Recurve Team event.

Aquatics

In the aquatics preliminaries, Marleigh Howes competed in the Women's 200m Freestyle, finishing 8th in Heat 3 with a time of 2:13.51. Her performance placed her 24th overall.

Elijah Daley, who had a busy day on the opening day of the games, was back in the water for the Men's 100m Butterfly. He finished 7th in Heat 4, touching the wall in a time of 56.65 seconds, which placed him 20th overall.

The standout performance of the morning session came from Jack Harvey in the Men's 200m Backstroke. Harvey delivered a powerful swim in Heat 2, finishing an impressive 2nd with a time of 2:03.85. This time was the fourth fastest across all the qualifiers, a result that sees him advance to the highly anticipated 'A' Final later today.

Archery

In the Men's Individual Recurve competition, Jaydon Roberts advanced to the Semi-Finals after a series of hard-fought matches. He began the day with a commanding 6-0 victory over Bruno Nunzi of Argentina in the Round of 16. In the quarter-finals, he faced Nanuq Herzog of Bolivia and secured a thrilling 6-5 victory to advance. His run for the gold medal came to an end in the Semi-Finals, where he was defeated 6-0 by Andres Hernandez of Columbia. Roberts will be involved in the Bronze Medal match on Day Three.

Meanwhile, Robin Selley's journey in the Women's Individual Recurve came to a close in the quarter-finals. Selley took on Sophia Baptista of Brazil and, in a competitive match, was defeated with a final score of 7-3.

Another highlight of the day for the Bermudian archers was their performance in the Mixed Recurve Team event. The duo of Roberts and Selley teamed up to defeat Guatemala with a score of 5-3, advancing to the quarter-finals. They then delivered a stunning performance to overcome a strong Brazilian team with another 5-3 victory. Their impressive run was halted in the semi-finals, where they were defeated 5-3 by the United States of America.

Despite the semi-final loss, the performance of Roberts and Selley has earned them a spot in the bronze medal match, a testament to their skill and teamwork on the international stage.
