Premier & First Division 50 Overs Round Up

St. David's Cricket Club picked up their second eight-wicket victory of the weekend, this time at home, as they comprehensively defeated Flatts Victoria at Lord's. Meanwhile, in a reduced-overs match at the Wellington Oval, St. George's Cricket Club secured an 89-run win over Bailey's Bay.

In the First Division, Southampton Rangers suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of Devonshire Recreation Club, while PHC edged out Willow Cuts in a closely contested match.

PREMIER DIVISION

Flatts Victoria 73 St. David's Cricket Club 77/2


At Lord’s in St. David's, St. David's Cricket Club picked up their second 8 wicket victory of the weekend as they defeated Flatt’s Victoria.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl, the home side's bowlers, led by the exceptional Kevon Fubler, dismantled the Flatts Victoria batting lineup. Fubler was the star with the ball, finishing with impressive figures of 6 wickets for just 21 runs from his 9 overs as Flatts were bowled out for a meagre 73. Dajon Carey was the top scorer for the visitors with 17.

In their chase, St. David's made light work of the target, reaching 77 for 2. Tre Manders led the charge with a commanding unbeaten knock of 38, guiding his team to a comfortable victory. Angus Betts was the only bowler to find success for Flatts, taking 1 wicket for 20 runs.

St. George's Cricket Club 280/8 Baileys Bay 191

At the Wellington Oval, the St. George’s Cricket Club defeated Bailey’s Bay by 89 runs .

In a match reduced to 45 overs per side, St. George's Cricket Club posted a formidable total of 280 for 8 after choosing to bat first. Opener Jonte Smith was in blistering form, smashing 85 runs from just 71 balls, an innings which included 6 fours and 7 sixes. Sharye Tavares was the best of the Bailey's Bay bowlers, finishing with 2 wickets for 40 runs.

In response, Bailey's Bay struggled to build partnerships and were eventually bowled out for 191. Azende Furbert fought a lone battle, top-scoring with 56 runs from 75 deliveries. The St. George's bowling attack was spearheaded by Zeko Burgess, who claimed 4 wickets for just 28 runs, ensuring a comfortable victory for the home side.

FIRST DIVISION

Southampton Rangers 115 Devonshire Recreation Club 120/6


At the Devonshire Recreation Club, the home club gave the Southampton Rangers their first defeat of the season with a 4 wicket victory, the Southampton Rangers were still crowned champions.

The Rangers, after winning the toss and batting first, were bowled out for 115. Oyinde Bascome was the standout performer with the bat, scoring 43. Nyrobi Carmicheal was the pick of the Devonshire bowlers, taking 4 wickets for 46 runs.

In their chase, Devonshire Recreation Club reached the target with four wickets to spare, scoring 120 for 6. Allan Douglas guided the team home with an unbeaten 32. Makai Jacobs took 2 wickets for 23 runs for Southampton Rangers.

PHC 167 Willow Cuts 156

At the PHC Stadium, the home team defeated Willow Cuts by 11 runs.

Batting first, PHC were dismissed for 167, with Charles Trott leading the way with a superb knock of 78 from just 66 balls. Ras Solomon Burrows was the most effective bowler for Willow Cuts, claiming 3 wickets for 19 runs.

In reply, Willow Cuts fell just short, being bowled out for 156. Kwasi James was the top scorer with 24. It was Charles Trott who once again proved to be the difference-maker, this time with the ball, as he returned figures of 3 wickets for 35 runs to seal the win for his side.

An incident took place during the match that we will wait to see how the Bermuda Cricket Board will address it and how long it takes as well. We are expecting to hear more when the incident is shared among the umpires and then a detailed story will appear!
