Barbados Under-19s Women win by 7 wickets (DLS Method)

Leeward Islands Under 19 Women 93 Barbados Under 19 Women 72/3

The West Indies Rising Stars Women's Under-19 Championship concluded today at the Diego Martin Sporting Complex, with the Barbados Under-19 Women's team being crowned champions after a rain-affected final against Katherine Bean Rosario and her Leeward Islands Under-19 Women's team. Barbados secured a 7-wicket victory in a match curtailed by the weather.

Winning the toss, Barbados elected to send the Leeward Islands in to bat. The Leeward Islands managed to post a total of 93 all out. Jahzara Claxton was the top scorer with a resilient 28, forming a crucial 34-run third-wicket partnership with Bermudian Katherine Bean Rosario, who contributed 10 runs to the effort. The pick of the Barbados bowlers was Theanny Herbert-Mayers, who delivered an impressive spell, claiming three wickets for just 15 runs from her five overs.

In response, Barbados's chase was halted by rain at 72 for 3 after 12.2 overs. Opener Asabi Callendar was leading the charge for Barbados with an unbeaten 14 runs when play was suspended. For the Leeward Islands, Jahzara Claxton continued to impress, leading their bowling attack with figures of two wickets for 26 runs from her five overs.

With the rain ultimately dictating the outcome, Barbados were declared the winners by the DLS method, securing the West Indies Rising Stars Women's Under-19 Championship title. Despite the defeat in the final, the Leeward Islands, and Katherine Bean Rosario, will take positives from their strong tournament performance.
