Bay Edge Flatts in Thrilling Eastern County Cup Opener

IslandStats.com
Bailey's Bay Won by 10 Runs

Bailey’s Bay 106 Flatt’s Victoria 96

The First Round of the Eastern County Cup delivered a gripping contest at Lord's today, as cup holders Bailey's Bay narrowly defeated challengers Flatts Victoria by just 10 runs in a low-scoring thriller. Rain initially delayed proceedings, but once play got underway, Flatts Victoria won the toss and elected to bowl.

Bailey's Bay found themselves in immediate trouble, reeling at 4 wickets down for just six runs. They eventually managed to recover somewhat, adding another 100 runs before being bowled out for 106. Their innings was largely rescued by a defiant 57 from Derrick Brangman, who faced 87 balls and struck 8 fours. Flatts' bowling attack was spearheaded by a sensational performance from Kamau Leverock, who claimed the first four wickets and finished with impressive figures of 5 for 52 from 10.3 overs. Former Flatts captain Kevin Hordle provided excellent support, taking 4 for 43 from 12 overs.

In reply, Flatts Victoria's chase also faltered early, and they too struggled to recover, eventually being bowled out for 96, falling just 10 runs short of their target. Kamau Leverock was their top scorer with 22.

The hero of the day, however, was Derrick Brangman, who capped off his vital batting contribution with a match-winning bowling display. Brangman tore through the Flatts batting line-up, finishing with exceptional figures of 6 for 33 from 13.2 overs, earning him the Man of the Match award and leading Bailey's Bay to a hard-fought victory to retain the cup.
