 The Bermuda Football Association’s Under 23 Summer League Semi-Finals delivered a dramatic evening of action at the BAA Field, with North Village Rams and PHC Zebras securing their spots in the final. Both matches featured red cards and late goals, setting the stage for an exciting championship clash.
Somerset Trojans 0 North Village Rams 3
In the opening semi-final, the North Village Rams defeated the Somerset Trojans with a commanding 3-0 victory. After a tightly contested and scoreless first half, the Rams broke the deadlock in the 65th minute through Malik Paynter. Just three minutes later, Jai Pitt Bean doubled North Village’s lead, putting them firmly in control.
The Somerset Trojans' hopes were further dashed in the 78th minute when they were reduced to nine men after two players received red cards. North Village then capitalized on their numerical advantage in stoppage time, with Tyrese Caines netting to make it 3-0 and seal their place in the final.
FC Bascone 1 PHC Zebras 3
The second semi-final saw the PHC Zebras stage an impressive comeback to defeat FC Bascome 3-1. FC Bascome started brightly, taking the lead in the 13th minute through a goal from Ben Osset. However, the Zebras responded swiftly, with Machai Davis equalizing in the 24th minute. The momentum swung further in PHC's favour when Harlem Bean-Fox converted from the penalty spot in the 33rd minute, giving the Zebras a 2-1 lead heading into half-time.
The PHC Zebras extended their advantage in the 70th minute courtesy of an own goal. FC Bascome's chances of a comeback were then made even harder ten minutes later when they were reduced to ten men after a player was sent off. The Zebras held firm to secure their place in the final.
The stage is now set for a compelling Bermuda Football Association Under 23 Summer League Final, pitting the dominant North Village Rams against the resilient PHC Zebras.
