Bermudian golfer Camiko Smith was among over 2000 hopefuls attempting to qualify for golf's oldest major, The Open Championship, which this year will be held at Royal Portrush from July 17th to 20th.
Smith took to the Frilford Heath Golf Course in Oxfordshire as one of 15 regional qualifying venues across Great Britain and Ireland. He carded a round of three-over-par 76, which placed him in a tie for 47th position.
Unfortunately for Smith, this score was not enough to advance him to the next stage of qualification. The rigorous regional qualifying process sees only a select few from each venue progress, highlighting the immense challenge of reaching golf's most historic major championship.
