Bermuda's Olympian Adriana Penruddocke and Olympic hopeful Sebastian Kempe were back in action on Day Two of the North American Championships in Long Beach, California, continuing to navigate competitive fields in their respective ILCA fleets.
Several more races were held on the second day of the regatta, which is taking place at the venue for the LA2028 Olympic Games.
In the ILCA6 Fleet, Adriana Penruddocke showed significant improvement, moving up five places from her Day One position of 19th. She now sits in an impressive 14th place overall with 46 net points. Penruddocke had a stellar day on the water, recording three top-ten finishes. She crossed the line 7th in the first race of the day, followed by a strong 4th-place finish, and then her best of the day, a 3rd-place in the final race.
Meanwhile, in the ILCA7 fleet, Sebastian Kempe came off the water down one spot, now in 12th place overall with 78 net points. His four races on the day presented a mixed bag of results. He achieved a 27th-place finish in the first race of the day, followed by a 23rd-place finish in race two. Kempe then crossed the line 15th in race three, before finishing the final race of the day – the seventh of the series – in an excellent 3rd place, demonstrating his ability to perform at the sharp end of the fleet.
Both Bermudian sailors continue to gain invaluable experience at this high-level competition and at a future Olympic venue, crucial for their long-term Olympic aspirations.
