The Bermuda team has been crowned champions of the 45th annual Kitty Michael Golf Invitational, emerging victorious after the third and final day of competition at the El Conquistador Golf Club in Puerto Rico.
In what was described as an extremely hot and challenging final day, Bermuda demonstrated remarkable consistency and resilience, finishing atop the leaderboard with a combined three-day score of 101-over par. This commanding performance saw them finish a significant 30 strokes clear of St. Croix and Puerto Rico, who tied for second place at 131-over par.
The triumphant team, led by Captain Linda Down and Vice Captain Tracy Burgess, included Katrin Burnie, Liz Carpio, Carine Brule, Valerie Nearon, Angela Cook, Katyna Rabain, Lesley Wollmann, and Tracy Nash. Their collective effort throughout the 54-hole event was instrumental in securing the prestigious title.
Adding to Bermuda's success, Vice Captain Tracy Burgess was declared the Individual winner of the tournament. She finished with a three-round total of 29-over par, after navigating a challenging final round of 11-over par.
Compatriot Carine Brule also secured a strong individual finish, placing third overall at 36-over par. Katrin Burnie rounded out Bermuda's impressive individual performances, finishing eighth overall at 43-over par.
The victory at the Kitty Michael Golf Invitational marks a significant achievement for Bermuda's amateur lady golfers, highlighting their talent and ability to perform under pressure on the international stage.
