The Bermuda bowling quintet of Michael Honore, Damien Matthews, David Maycock, Jamel Bean, and Dayvon Tucker have successfully accomplished their primary mission at the Central American and Caribbean Bowling Confederation Championships in the Dominican Republic: qualifying Bermuda a place in the upcoming CAC Games.
Competing in the final three rounds of the team competition, Bermuda began the day in ninth place with a cumulative total of 2,996 pins from the previous rounds.
In today's decisive action, the Bermudian team added another 2,748 pins to their overall tally, bringing their final score to 5,744 pins. However, despite their efforts, they fell one spot in the standings to finish in tenth place overall in the highly competitive team event.
While the overall team placing might not reflect their aspirations, the more crucial objective of securing a spot at the CAC Games has been met. The championships provided invaluable experience for the Bermudian bowlers against strong regional competition, and the group can now celebrate achieving their key goal of advancing to the multi-sport event.
