Fans at the BAA Field were treated to a sensational night of Under-23 football as the Bermuda Football Association’s Summer League season continued with two captivating encounters.
The evening saw a remarkable comeback in the opener, followed by a controlled victory in the nightcap.
PHC Zebras 5 Devonshire Colts 4
The opening match proved to be a barn-burner, as the PHC Zebras fought back from a two-goal deficit to secure a dramatic 5-4 victory over the Devonshire Colts.
Caleb McDowall gave the PHC Zebras the lead in the 10th minute, but Shane Robinson equalized for the Devonshire Colts just two minutes later. The PHC Zebras would retake the lead in the 18th minute through Joshua Joseph, taking a narrow 2-1 lead into the break.
The second half exploded with goals and swings in momentum. Devonshire Colts drew level again in the 46th minute with a strike from Diego Richardson. They then took a 3-2 lead in the 60th minute when Daniel Ball found the back of the net, and extended their lead to 4-2 in the 73rd minute with Robinson scoring his second of the game.
However, the PHC Zebras staged an incredible comeback. In the 77th minute, Joseph scored his second goal, pulling one back. Three minutes later, Harlem Bean-Fox sensationally drew the PHC Zebras level at 4-4. Just when it seemed the teams would share the points, Zakiyah Lee stepped up to score the PHC Zebras' dramatic winner in the 89th minute, sealing an unforgettable victory.
Somerset Trojans 3 Robin Hood 1
The nightcap saw the Somerset Trojans deliver a composed performance to defeat Robin Hood 3-1.
The Somerset Trojans took the lead in the 37th minute when Rio Russell found the back of the net, giving them a 1-0 advantage at half-time.
Robin Hood managed to draw level in the 57th minute with a goal from Sebastian Madeiros. However, the Somerset Trojans quickly reasserted control, going back in front in the 71st minute through a Jace Donowa goal. Kymani McNeil then sealed the victory for the Somerset Trojans, making it 3-1 in the 90th minute.
The latest round of the Under-23 Summer League provided enthralling football, highlighting the talent and resilience of Bermuda's young players.
