Tight Contests in U23 Summer League Double Header
BAA Field played host to another evening of action in the Bermuda Football Association’s Under-23 Summer League, with two closely fought matches keeping spectators on the edge of their seats.
The double header saw a share of the points in the first game, followed by a narrow victory in the nightcap.
Robin Hood and Somerset Eagles Battle to Stalemate
The opening match of the evening saw Robin Hood and the Somerset Eagles unable to be separated, drawing 1-1.
Robin Hood got off to a flying start, taking the lead in the 4th minute through a strike from Ellis Morgan. This early goal proved to be the difference as Robin Hood took a 1-0 advantage into the half-time break.
However, the Somerset Eagles emerged for the second half with renewed determination and found their equalizer in the 62nd minute. Tyler Emery found the back of the net, earning his team a well-deserved share of the spoils as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
FC Bascome Edge Hornets in Close Encounter
The second match of the night saw FC Bascome narrowly defeat the Dandy Town Hornets 2-1 in a tightly contested affair.
FC Bascome drew first blood in the 15th minute when Hunter Outerbridge found the net. But the Dandy Town Hornets responded well, with Tavez Smith levelling the score in the 27th minute, ensuring the teams went into the break all square at 1-1.
The second half proved to be a cagey affair, with both teams searching for the decisive goal. It was FC Bascome who ultimately found the breakthrough in the 60th minute, with Ben Osset scoring what turned out to be the winning goal. Despite the Hornets' efforts to find another equaliser, FC Bascome held on to secure a narrow 2-1 victory.
The latest round of Under-23 Summer League fixtures highlights the competitive nature of the division, with both matches showcasing tight battles and hard-fought goals.
