The Warwick Football Academy (WFA) saw their four youth teams conclude a successful showing at the prestigious New England Surf Soccer Club Tapin Memorial Day Tournament in Boston, Massachusetts. The academy's young players demonstrated their talent and competitive spirit across various age divisions.
The WFA Under 9 Girls team, after a tough opening match, bounced back impressively to secure their second win of the tournament. They defeated New England Surf Metro South 2016 Girls Navy 4-1. This victory saw them finish a strong second in their group.
The WFA Under 12 Girls team also enjoyed a successful tournament, finishing second in their group. Despite an impressive record of two wins and one draw, the team narrowly missed out on advancing to the final due to a single-goal difference compared to New England Surf Metro Boston. Their final group stage match saw them secure a dominant 5-1 victory over NEFC South Girls 2013 Navy.
The standout success story for the academy came from the WFA Under 10 Boys team, who were crowned champions of their division. After finishing level on points with Lightning Soccer Club 2015 Boys, they secured their place in the final with a decisive 3-0 win over Boys Metro North Elite. In the final showdown against Lightning Soccer Club, the WFA Under 10 Boys once again proved their mettle, claiming the division title with another impressive 3-0 victory.
The WFA Under 11 Boys team faced a tougher run in the Platinum B Division. They suffered a 4-1 loss to Boston Bolts and a narrow 2-1 defeat to New England Surf Sky. Despite these setbacks, the team finished with a respectable record of two wins and two losses.
Overall, the Warwick Football Academy's participation in the Tapin Memorial Day Tournament in Boston proved to be a positive experience, with the Under 10 Boys claiming a championship and the Under 9 and Under 12 Girls securing strong second-place finishes in their respective groups.
