Fulton's Late Blitz Secures Repton Win in Close Encounter

IslandStats.com
Repton School Won by 5 Runs

Repton School 232/9 Uppingham School 227/9

Bermudian cricketer Luke Fulton played a crucial late innings cameo to help his Repton School secure a narrow 5-run victory over Uppingham School in a closely fought 50-over match.

Uppingham School won the toss and elected to bowl first, sending Repton into bat. Repton ultimately posted a total of 232 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 50 overs. George Pocklington and Monty Jackson were the joint top scorers for Repton, each contributing 46 runs. However, it was Fulton's explosive late hitting that provided the crucial impetus to their innings.

Fulton arrived at the crease and faced the final ten balls of the innings, unleashing a remarkable flurry of boundaries. His ten-ball onslaught began with two runs, followed by a dot ball. He then found the boundary with a four before taking a single off the final ball of the over. The final over of the innings, bowled by J Gray, saw Fulton in devastating form. He smashed back-to-back fours off the first two deliveries, followed by a towering six off the third ball. He then continued his boundary barrage with consecutive doubles before ending the innings with another well-struck four. Barney Dring was the pick of the Uppingham School bowlers, taking two wickets for 23 runs in his six-over spell.

In reply, Uppingham School mounted a spirited chase but ultimately fell just short, scoring 227 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Gray, who had a tough final over with the ball, top-scored for Uppingham with a battling 61. Ollie Black was the most successful bowler for Repton, taking two wickets for 26 runs in his five-over spell. Fulton also contributed with the ball, taking one wicket for 24 runs in his five overs, playing a key role in restricting the Uppingham chase and securing the narrow victory for Repton School.
