IslandStats.com
Match Drawn

MCC 275/5 Sedbergh School 196/9

Zeri Tomlinson featured for his Sedbergh School team in a friendly match against the prestigious Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), a fixture that ultimately ended in a draw after a keenly contested affair.

The MCC won the toss and elected to bat first. In their innings, which spanned 44 of the scheduled 95 overs, they posted a total of 275 runs for the loss of five wickets before declaring. E Williams was the standout batsman for the MCC, scoring a solid 71. For Sedbergh, F Galitzine-Scott was the most successful bowler, claiming three wickets for 49 runs in his ten-over spell. Tomlinson also had a brief spell with the ball, bowling three overs for 15 runs without taking a wicket.

In reply, Sedbergh School faced a challenging target. Despite a solid effort, the Sedbergh batsmen were ultimately able to hold on for a draw, scoring 196 runs for the loss of nine wickets by the end of their innings. Opener G Leach led the Sedbergh scoring with a patient 70. Tomlinson, however, had a brief stay at the crease and was dismissed for just one run. O Uffindall proved to be the most effective bowler for the MCC, taking three wickets for 30 runs in his 13-over spell.

While Sedbergh couldn't quite reach the MCC's total, their ability to see out the remaining overs and secure a draw against such a renowned cricketing institution will be seen as a positive result and a valuable experience for Tomlinson and his teammates.
