Another week of action in the Bermuda Cricket Board's 2025 season, alongside notable displays from Bermudian cricketers overseas, has delivered a fresh batch of thrilling encounters. Today, we shine a spotlight on the exceptional individual performances with both bat and ball that lit up the local and international cricketing landscape over the past week and weekend.
With the willow, young Zeri Tomlinson, representing Sedbergh School, notched the highest score of the week, crafting a fine innings of 108. However, the headlines on the local front belonged to Somerset Cricket Club's Jermal Proctor. The dynamic all-rounder was in scintillating form. On Saturday, Proctor blasted a blistering 92 off just 56 balls against Bailey's Bay, his innings peppered with an incredible 16 boundaries, laying the foundation for Somerset's victory. He followed this up on Sunday with a more measured but equally crucial knock of 76 against their fierce rivals, St. George's Cricket Club, which included ten fours and a six, again contributing significantly to a Somerset win.
Elsewhere, the PHC duo of Christopher Douglas and Charles Trott both recorded impressive scores of 64 runs in their team's victory over Somerset Bridge, showcasing the depth of batting talent across the Premier Division.
In the bowling department, Makai Jacobs of the Southampton Rangers emerged as the standout performer of the weekend. His exceptional spell of 4 overs, bowled yielded five wickets for just 14, was instrumental in the Rangers' victory. Representing Stenhousemuir overseas, Bermuda international Dennico Hollis also impressed with the ball, recording figures of 2 overs for a miserly 5 runs and claiming three wickets.
Back in the local league, Dion Stovell of Southampton Rangers continued his strong all-round form, taking three wickets for just 6 runs in his four overs. Finally, Macquille Walker of Bailey’s Bay also deserves a mention for his economical spell of 3 wickets for just 10 runs in his four overs.
These standout performances highlight the exciting talent and competitive spirit that continues to define the 2025 Bermuda Cricket Board season and the contributions of Bermudian players on the international stage.
