Twenty-four boats took to the start line in Hamilton Harbor for Race Day 3 of the 2025 Wednesday Night Sailing Series, but challenging conditions saw a significant number of retirements. By the time the fleet had navigated the course, only 15 boats crossed the finish line, with nine recording a did not finish (DNF).
The first boat to complete the race was Crossfire, clocking an elapsed time of 1 hour, 2 minutes, and 2 seconds (1:02:02). However, after the application of their handicap, their corrected time of 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 25 seconds (1:08:25) placed them second overall on the night.
Nasty Medicine was the second boat to cross the finish line, with an elapsed time of 1 hour, 4 minutes, and 37 seconds (1:04:37). Their corrected time of 1 hour, 10 minutes, and 53 seconds (1:10:53) saw them finish sixth on the night.
Ultimately, the race victory was awarded to Menace, whose corrected time of 1 hour, 7 minutes, and 44 seconds (1:07:44) proved to be the fastest after handicaps were applied.
Stormy secured third place on the night with a corrected time of 1 hour, 10 minutes, and 2 seconds (1:10:02). The fifth boat in the RS 21 class finished fourth, clocking a corrected time of 1 hour, 10 minutes, and 43 seconds (1:10:43). Rounding out the top five finishers was the first boat in the RS 21 class, with a corrected time of 1 hour, 10 minutes, and 50 seconds (1:10:50).
The high number of retirements highlights the demanding conditions faced by the sailors in Hamilton Harbor, making Menace's victory all the more impressive. The Wednesday Night Sailing Series continues next week, with competitors hoping for more favorable winds.
