Young footballers representing Vasco Da Gama continued their participation in the prestigious 17th Clube União Micaelense Azores Under-11 Children's Soccer International Football Tournament in Ponta Delgada, enjoying a successful run in the knock-out stages.
Having navigated the group stages, Vasco Da Gama entered the Quarter-Final round of group play with momentum. They secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Tri-Town South Africa, demonstrating their attacking prowess. Their progress continued as they then overcame ACD Maracana, booking their place in the Semi-Finals.
The Semi-Final stage presented a tougher challenge for the young Vasco Da Gama side as they faced a strong VC Pico da Pedra team. In a hard-fought encounter, Vasco Da Gama ultimately fell to a 2-0 defeat, ending their hopes of reaching the tournament final.
However, the team showed great character as they bounced back in their final match of the tournament. In a fitting end to their Azores campaign, Vasco Da Gama secured a decisive 5-2 victory over fellow Vasco Da Gama Club.
While they may have fallen short of the final, the young Vasco Da Gama team can be proud of their performances throughout the prestigious international tournament. Reaching the semi-finals and securing a final victory demonstrates their talent and potential on the international stage. The experience gained in Ponta Delgada will undoubtedly be valuable for their future development.
