Bermuda's Team in Paralympic Opening Ceremony

The 2016 Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony officially got underway at the Maracana Stadium, Rio de Janeiro.

The spirit of the Paralympics was burning bright as Brazil was joined by the rest of the world watching the parade of the Rio 2016 Paralympic athletes.

Prior to the athletes making their appearance the crowd was treated with a colourful opening ceremony also watched by millions worldwide.

Thousands of spectators experience the parade of more than 4,300 athletes, with Track athlete Jessica Lewis leading out the Bermuda team.

The Bermuda team was once again dressed in the traditional Bermuda shorts pink in colour, along with teh Blue Blazer.

Representing Bermuda during the 2016 Paralympic Games include Lewis in the T53 Women’s 100m, 400m and 800m, while Yushae Desilva-Andrade will compete in Boccia.

Walking with the athletes in the Bermuda team included, Bermuda’s Paralympics Chef-de-Mission Lorri Lewis, Ashanti Andrade, Troy Farnsworth and Ken Thom.
