Bermuda Track and Field Association (BTFA) said, “We have had a quite couple of weeks but we are getting ready for our last big event of the season.”
Tyrone Smith will be Bermuda’s lone representative at the World Championships being held in Daegu, Korea August 27th to September 4th competing in the Long Jump.
“We were hoping to have a few more athletes meet the qualifying standard but due to injuries, scheduling etc. we have not reached that goal and will be only sending the one athlete,” continued Watson.
Watson concluded, “As there are Congress Meetings and elections in Daegu myself and Freddie Evans the BTFA General Secretary will be traveling to Daegu. Accompanying Tyrone will be his own personal coach Bryan Schiding. We are hoping for a good performance from Smith as he has had a good season leading up to Worlds so hopefully he will peak there.”
