Bermuda Go Down in Manchester

IslandStats.com
THE 2010 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championships are officially underway - and this year's opening ceremony didn't disappoint as this year's tournament was given the perfect start in Manchester England.

Mark Hackett, the Lord Major of Manchester, was on hand to get proceedings underway and had "great pleasure" in welcoming the third World Championships to the city following the two previous tournaments in 1978 and 1994.

All the teams were welcomed into the stadium to their national anthems and fans were treated to an eye-catching colorful sea of national flags being waved from side to side.

Bermuda went down in their opening match 16 – 2 to Poland. Josh Coveleski scored 9 times to lead Poland to victory. Poland also got a hat-trick from Justin Rychlicki, while Mike Szpiech scored twice and Colin Jesien and Karrol Pernal both found the net once.

Bermuda got goals from Stephen Michel and Tucker Moore.
