Tyrone Smith is set to compete in the 12th IAAF World Championships Men’s Long Jump today at 1:10pm Bermuda Time.
Smith will compete in Group B, www.islandstats.com will bring you the results once the competition has been completed.
Smith leaped 7.62m in his first attempt, before his biggest leap of the event of 7.72 on his second attempt. Smith then leaped 7.71 to finish 17th.
Donna Watson the Bermuda Track and Field Association President said, “Everything here has been great, I have had some good meetings and made some good contacts”.
Watson continued, “One of our former National Olympic Athletes Troy Douglas is in Berlin coaching the relay team for the Netherlands. We have been in discussion as to how he can assist our program in Bermuda”.
“I would really love to see us have more athletes at these big events and have some plans in mind to help to get us there especially with Commonwealth next year and the Olympics coming up in 2012”, concluded Watson.
