BSSF Senior & Middle School Updates

Bermuda School Sports Federation’s Senior School Track and Field Championships Bermuda’s teenage track stars will all be on display tomorrow at the Bermuda School Sports Federation’s Senior School Track and Field Championships. The meet gets underway at 3:30 with the under 15 girls javelin, over 15 girls high jump and the over 15 boys long jump. The track will heat up at 4:30 when the 200 meters get underway. The event will run into the evening giving people a chance to support the student athletes. The highlight of the evening will certainly be the 100 meter finals which get underway at 6:15. CARIFTA qualifier Jeneiko Place from CedarBridge is the early favorite, but he will be pushed by Berkeley’s Jer-quan Symonds and CedarBridge’s Kyle Virgil. Shawnae Brangman from Warwick Academy, Scott Clarke of Saltus and Berkeley’s Maliha Weeks also looked strong in qualifying. Fellow qualifier Ashley Berry from Warwick Academy will battle with sister Megan and fellow qualifier and school mate Taylor Ashley Bean for bragging rights in the 800m and 1500m. Trey Simons of Saltus, Cameron Crieghton, Shaquille Dill and Juma Mouchete of Berkeley and Dage Minors and Shuntae Hendrickson of CedarBridge will also attempt to run away with middle distance titles. The event culminates with the 4x100 meter relays where schools will battle for racing supremacy. Middle School Sports Round Up The Bermuda School Sports Federation held their Middle School Track and Field event at the National Sports Center. T.N. Tatem with 56 points won the Combined Team Under 12 Division, with Whitney Institute second with 40.50 points and Bermuda High finished 3rd with 32 points. Sandys Second Middle School won the Combined Team Under 13 Division with 57 points, Whitney Institute second with 40 points and T.N. Tatem finished 3rd with 32 points. The Combined Team Over 13 Division was won by Sandys Second Middle School with 55 points, Whitney Institute second with 46 points and T.N. Tatem finished 3rd with 22.50 points.
