The Bermuda Ball Hockey Winter League season got underway with a double-header that produced 23 goals on the night.
Appleby 7 Spine and Sport 4
In the opener Appleby defeated Spine and Sport 7 – 4, both teams scored four goals in the First Period, neither would find the net in the Second Period, before Appleby would score three unanswered goals in the Third Period.
Rob Osbourne and Curran Trenouth would score three goals each for Appleby who also got a goal from Chris Cairns, while Will Walker scored twice for Spine and Sport, Ronnie Dzurus, and Shawn McKee both added a goal each.
Frontier 5 Alexandra Mosher 7
In the nightcap, Alexandra Mosher defeated Frontier 7 – 5. Alexandra Mosher held a 2 – 1 lead at the end of the First Period, but Frontier would be level at the end of the Second Period after outscoring their opponents 2 – 1. In the Third Period, Alexandra Mosher would score four times and conceded two to claim the victory.
Andrew Leavy and Shane Matchett both scored hat-tricks to lead Alexandra Mosher to victory, they would get a single strike from Israel Guzman. Andrew Bonner scored a hat-trick for Frontier, while Ross Rufiange and John Duda both scored once.
