The opener on the night was a low scoring affair, with the Manitoba Moose edging the Quad City Mallards 2 – 1.
The Manitoba Moose took the lead in the First Period with an Ed Sweeney goal. The Second period had no goals, but it was not through a lack of trying, both goalkeepers made save after save to deny their opponents a goal.
The Third Period saw the Manitoba Moose double the lead with a goal off the stick of Deepak Popat, while Ryan Marshall scored the lone goal for the Quad City Mallards.
San Francisco Spiders 2 Red Army 3
The Red Army defeated the San Francisco Spiders 3 – 2 with a Shoot-out goal.
The teams finished level at 2 – 2 in regulation with Adrian Stromberg scoring twice for the San Francisco Spiders, while Matt Katzsch scored twice for the Red Army, Bill Calko scored the all important Shoot-out goal for the Red Army.
