Isabella Boonstra and her 15th-ranked Babson College Field Hockey teammates went down in overtime as second-seeded MIT edged them 3-2, in the New England Women's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament Final at MacDowell Field.
MIT senior Devon Goetz tied the game late in regulation and scored the game-winning goal 35 seconds in the overtime period.
Babson, which had its 13-game winning streak snapped, drops to 18-4 on the year and now must wait to see if it receives one of five at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament when the field is announced. MIT, which captured its second conference tournament crown in three years, improves to 13-4 overall with its ninth straight win.
