Pan American Village is Officially Inaugurated

IslandStats.com
The first major project of the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games was inaugurated today in the Chilean capital. The Pan American Village is located in the Cerrillos community and has 17 towers, 1,355 apartments, large green areas, games, and everything the athletes need to stay comfortable and well-rested during their stay at the Games.

The President of Chile, Gabriel Boric Font, State Ministers, Santiago 2023 Executive Director Harold Mayne Nicholls, athletes from Team Chile and the Cerrillos community participated in the ceremony.

After a tour of the apartments and common areas of the Village, President Boric headed to the main avenue of the complex to preside over an event that would include the traditional ribbon cutting.

“This is a new starting point for what the Pan American and Parapan American Games are going to be, but we are also inaugurating a village in Cerrillos that is a project that will leave a legacy. This was built in 21 months, it has integration spaces. There will be athletes from all countries here, and we have many reasons to forge brotherhood amongst the countries,” said Chilean President Gabriel Boric.

“We are motivated and ready. The energy of the Pan American and Parapan American Games is contagious, and it will inject optimism into the country that does us too much good. There are only five weeks left until all of Chile is united by the same flag and we celebrate the beginning of this continental celebration,” concluded the highest authority of Chile.

“We are very happy to be here. We had the tremendous luck to be inside the departments, to tour the Pan American Village and it really shows that this place is going to be a tremendous meeting point for all athletes on the continent. We are very eager to come live in this villa. We have little left and we are ready,” added Team Chile athlete Camila Caram.

It should be noted that the Pan American Village of Santiago 2023 is part of a Social Integration Subsidy project. This means that after the Games, 1,355 families will be able to access these apartments, transforming this place into one of the most important legacy projects of this continent’s greatest multisport event.
