Following their recent visit to Bermuda members of the University of California, Berkeley (Cal) will join www.islandstats.com live at 8 pm this evening.
Led by Head Coach Shellie Onstead and assistant coaches, Manny Martinez and Katrina Carter, the Cal women’s field hockey team is one of 30 Division 1 athletic teams at the University of California, Berkeley—which is located in the Bay Area (near Oakland and San Francisco).
This Olympic sport for women and men is played throughout the world. Current team members represent countries such as Australia, The Netherlands, Argentina, Spain, South Africa, England, and Germany.
They enjoyed their visit to the island of Bermuda where they played matches versus the Bermuda National Field Hockey team, participated in Bermuda Day, and learned about the culture of the island.
In addition to the field hockey staff, the team was accompanied by Dr. Ty-Ron Douglas, who is a Bermudian and the Associate Athletic Director for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging & Justice (DEIBJ) at Cal.
Today, in addition to Dr. Douglas, we are joined by two Cal field hockey players who visited the island in Sam Imokawa and Cass Puleo.
