The Director of Youth and Sports Norbert Simons has informed the Bermuda National Sports Governing Bodies (NSGB) of a change to the Illicit Drug Policy.
In his email to the NSGB’s Simons wrote, “I write to you to advise you the Minister of Youth Culture and Sports The Hon. Ernest Peets JP has today advised BSADA to revoke the Illicit Drug Policy 2012, effective immediately.
This is in keeping with the Bermuda Government’s stance on cannabis.
BSADA will continue testing in “accordance with the Anti-Doping in Sport Act 2011” and is required to develop a policy consistent with WADA testing requirements.
The Minister has also decreed that “This directive is effective immediately and applies retroactively to any impacted cases since the Misuse of Drugs (Decriminalization of Cannabis) Amendment 2017.
