Erica Hawley and Tyler Smith both competed in the 2023 World Triathlon Cup Brasilia.
As the mercury rose and the crowd grew louder in the midday heat of Brasilia, Miguel Hidalgo could finally deliver the fans what they craved as he dug in to win a brilliant first Gold in his home nation’s capital and the World Triathlon Cup Brasilia debut.
Earlier in the day, Italy’s Alice Betto had come off the Juscelino Kubitschek bridge for the last time, pulled alongside Katie Zaferes and then put the hammer down up the final hill, running solo to the tape and a first World Cup win.
Hawley part of the Women’s Elite field finished 16th clocking a time of 2:03:09, 36 females went to the start line, only 25 finished.
Hawley clocked 19:42 on the Swim, before clocking a time of 1:02:54 on the Bike Course, before closing out with a time of 40:06 on the Run Course.
Smith also finished 16th while competing in the Men’s Elite field clocking 1:51:11. A total of 47 males went to the start line, but only 38 finished.
Smith completed the Swim in 18:18, he then clocked a time of 56:49 on the Bike, before closing out with a time of 34:39 on the Bike Course.
