Omar Hayward began competing in the Fortaleza World Boccia Cup in Brazil.
Hayward would go down in his match 6 - 1 against World Number 8 Eduardo Sanchez from Mexico.
The scores were all tied up halfway through the match at 1-1 before Sanchez scored 5 points in the remaining 2 periods to win the match.
Coach Troy Farnsworth said, “Despite the loss, there were many positives to take away from the match. Hayward created some great opportunities to score however, unfortunately, could not make some big shots when he needed to.”
Hayward will now play World Number 2 Witsanu Huadpradit followed by World Number 25 Martin Frkovic.
