Jon Beard has been recognized in the annual Queen’s Birthday Honours List, for Services to Sport.
Having qualified as a teacher in the UK, Beard has been teaching for 40 years in Bermuda. He has cultivated generations of young men and women in sport and has served in a variety of sports administrative roles.
During his time in Bermuda, Beard has been actively involved in many community organizations. He has served as a trustee at the National Sports Centre, Chairman of YouthNet, Chairman of the Bermuda Island Games Association, a member of the Bermuda Olympic Association, and has been, a member of the Bermuda Football Association Executive, Coach of the Bermuda Football Association in Youth Teams, President of the Bermuda Athletic Association, Chairman of Bermuda Council for Drug-Free Sport (became Bermuda Sport Anti-Doping Authority) and Chairman of the Bermuda Schools Sports Federation.
