Bermuda and Panama will kick off Group B of League A in the CONCACAF Nations League on Thursday night at the National Sports Center, where Bermuda will begin their campaign toward remaining in League A.
Standing in their way will be a new look Panama team, Panama knew 2019 would be a year of transition. You don’t make the FIFA World Cup for the first-time ever and come out the same on the other side.
Bermuda has a squad consisting primarily of players from the Gold Cup that saw them fall 2 – 1 to Costa Rica and Haiti, but pulled off a 2 – 0 win over Nicaragua.
The transition continues into Nations League play for Panama, with coach Americo Gallego taking over as manager after Julio Dely Valdes took over on an interim basis and guided the Caneleros to the Gold Cup Quarter-Finals.
Gallego hasn’t managed professionally since 2015, but Panama is betting the veteran Argentine will be the man needed to help Panama’s new generation bloom.
