The Finals on Day 3 of the Bahamas Nationals got off to a fast start and continued throughout the night, as the Bermuda athletes claimed 14 more Medals and broke Three Records along the way.
Arabella Newport Derbyshire got things started by claiming the Silver Medal in the 200m Butterfly in the Girls 13-14 Age Group in a time of 2:40.51, Pippa Charleson won the Bronze Medal in the Girls 15-17 Age Group in a time of 2:40.86 and Sam Williamson won the 18 & Over Boys 200m Butterfly Gold Medal in a time of 2:12.97.
In the 13-14 Mixed Medley relay Elanna Fulton, Noah Maranzana, Marleigh Howes, and Connor Hupman placed third in a time of 2:06.05 setting a new Bermuda record in the 15-18 Age Group. Imojen Judd, Rhys Insley, Pippa Charleson, and Flynn Watson-Brown went on to break the record set by Fulton, Maranzana, Howes, and Hupman when they swam to fourth in the 15-17 Age Group in a time of 1:59.53.
Next up was the 200m Individual Medley. Marleigh Howes captured the Gold Medal in the Girls 13-14 Age Group in a time of 2:37.37, and Noah Maranzana finished fifth in the Boys 13-14 Age Group in a time of 2:38.57. Imojen Judd and Pippa Charleson went on to finish sixth in a time of 2:43.09 and seventh in a time of 2:44.04 respectively in the Girls 15-17 Age Group, followed by Thomas Cechini who finished with the Bronze Medal in the Boys 15-17 Age Group in a time of 2:19.43. Finishing off the series was Taylor White, swimming to a time of 2:35.44 to claim the Silver Medal in the Girls 18 & Over Age Group, and Sam Williamson claimed the Gold Medal in a time of 2:08.30 in the Boys 18 & Over Age Group.
In the 50m Breaststroke, Tallulah Parkinson finished fourth in the Girls 11-12 Age Group in a time of 39.18. Up next was the 13-14 Girls 50m Breaststroke with Marleigh Howes finishing fifth in a time of 40.05 and Violet Smith eighth in a time of 42.83. Rhys Insley finished fourth in the Boys 15-17 Age Group in a time of 32.03 while Caleb Ingham finished seventh in the Boys 18 & Over in a time of 31.77.
Several swimmers took to the pool for the 100m Freestyle, the final individual event of the night. Up first was Tallulah Parkinson who finished ninth in a time of 1:08.79 in the Girls 11-12 Age Group. Next was the Girls 13-14 Age Group which saw Marleigh Howes swimming to a Gold Medal in a time of 1:00.53, Elanna Fulton won the Bronze Medal in a time of 1:02.93, Katherine Wheddon was fourth in a time of 1:04.16 and Violet Smith was eight in a time of 1:07.81. In the Boys 13-14 Age Group, Connor Hupman claimed the Silver Medal in a time of 57.37 and Noah Maranzana was seventh in a time of 1:00.69. Next up was the Girls 15-17 Age Group where Imojen Judd finished fourth in a time of 1:02.41 and Pippa Charleson finished ninth in a time of 1:06.12. In the Boys 15-17 Age Group, Flynn Watson-Brown won the Bronze Medal in a time of 54.57 and Thomas Cechini was fourth in a time of 54.93. Finishing the night was the Boys 18 & Over group which saw Finn Moseley finish in fifth in a time of 54.38.
The night finished with the 200m Medley Relay which saw the 13-14 Girls team made up of Elanna Fulton, Katherine Wheddon, Arabella Newport Derbyshire and Marleigh Howes win the Gold in a time 2:14.08. The 18 & Over Boys team comprised of Brian Desmond, Sam Williamson, Caleb Ingram and Finn Moseley claimed Gold and set an unofficial Bermuda record in a time 1:48.57. The prior record was held for 14 years and included Olympians Roy Allen Burch and Julian Fletcher.
