Bermuda Paralympian Jessica Lewis on her social media page reflects on this past year.
“2017 has been a year of some great moments from competing at my 3rd World Championships alongside my amazing teammates, to getting to work in the TR field and finishing my degree, to becoming an Aunty and to meeting some incredible people along the journey.
But 2017 has also been a heartbreaking year with the unbelievable and unfair loss of my coach, mentor and friend. I never thought that I, along with my teammates, would have to be on this amazing journey without Ken. It has been incredibly tough to not have his encouragement or guidance these past few months both on and off the track. But I am forever grateful I had the opportunity to meet him and become his athlete for the past 7 years. He brought together an amazing group of passionate people that I am very lucky to be a part of. The support we have received from Athletics Canada to help us continue on in Ken’s honor has been incredible as well.
2018 is going to be a completely different type of year than what we had planned but it will be one that we can bring Kens wisdom and words of encouragement into as we continue to compete and remember this one in a million person.”
