Philip Woollins and Mae Tirfe led the way for Mid-Atlantic Athletic Club as runners took to the picturesque Grounds of Government House for the third annual Nakeno Crighton Cross Country event.
Hosted by the Bermuda Pacers Track Club, the annual fixture delivered another competitive morning of off-road running, with MAAC athletes sweeping the top step of the podium across both senior three-mile contests.
Woollins captured the Men’s Open title in clinical fashion, completing the undulating three-mile course in 21 minutes 27.07 seconds. Benjamin Smith provided stout competition to take second place in 21:50.90, while MAAC teammate Jack McHale rounded out the podium positions with a steady clocking of 23:14.92.
In the Women’s Open division, Tirfe delivered a dominant display to comfortably take victory. Crossing the line in 22:26.69, she finished well clear of second-placed Rachel Little, who stopped the clock in 28:05.30.
Host club Bermuda Pacers enjoyed a standout triumph in the Under-17 Men’s two-mile event, with 14-year-old Nicolas Gomez Caines delivering an authoritative performance.
Gomez Caines showed blistering pace across the turf, clocking 11:57.94 to secure victory by more than two minutes. Clubmate Ronan Davidge followed home to claim a well-earned second in 14:03.24, just ahead of Developing National Athletes runner George Morris, who took third in 14:25.50.
