Southampton Rangers 5 Somerset Eagles 1
Southampton Rangers secured their second win of the First Division campaign in emphatic fashion, cruising to a 5-1 derby triumph over Somerset Eagles at Southampton Oval.
In the weekend’s solitary First Division fixture, the hosts blew their rivals away with a devastating opening burst, striking twice inside the opening five minutes to establish firm control of the contest.
Kevon Douglas stunned the visitors straight from the kickoff, timing his run to perfection to break the deadlock within the first minute. Before the Eagles could regroup, Nacori Smith doubled the home side's advantage in the fifth minute with a sharp finish.
Somerset Eagles found a brief foothold in the 10th minute when they were awarded a penalty, which Tahj Wade calmly dispatched to halve the deficit.
However, any hopes of an Eagles resurgence were snuffed out by Khalil Symonds before the interval. Symonds restored the two-goal cushion on 26 minutes and grabbed his second on the stroke of half-time, converting a 44th-minute spot-kick to send Rangers into the break with an unassailable 4-1 lead.
With the points virtually sealed, the hosts managed proceedings comfortably in the second period before Jahni Bean capped off a comprehensive team performance, striking in the 87th minute to seal an emphatic five-star display.
