James Godwin IslandStats.com Amateur James Godwin weathered heavy rain and punishing coastal winds to clinch victory in the latest round of the 2026 Moongate Tour at Mid Ocean Club.
In brutal, blustery conditions that tested every aspect of course management, Godwin produced a resolute round of two-under-par 69* to finish atop the leaderboard, edging out an experienced chasing pack of local professionals.
Godwin’s card featured three birdies alongside 11 solid pars, providing the necessary cushion to offset three bogeys and a solitary double-bogey on an afternoon where par was hard currency across the fabled Tucker’s Town layout.
Behind the winner, a tense battle for second place resulted in a three-way tie at three-over-par 74 between professionals Nick Jones, Kenny Leseur, and Chaka DeSilva.
Jones endured an eventful, rollercoaster day on the links, highlighting his round with a brilliant eagle alongside two birdies, but seven bogeys ultimately checked his momentum.
Leseur took a steadier approach through the gusts, posting two birdies and 13 pars, only to be undone by two costly double-bogeys and a dropped shot.
DeSilva showed sharp scoring intent by racking up a field-leading four birdies, but three bogeys and two double-bogeys left him sharing the second-place purse with his fellow pros.
Godwin's composed showing in adverse weather marks another standout result on the local circuit, highlighting the growing depth of amateur talent pushing the professional ranks on Bermuda's premier stages.
