Bermuda Quartet Called-Up to Commonwealth Cricket Celebration

IslandStats.com
Four of Bermuda's brightest emerging cricketers have been called up to represent the island in a high-profile Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) Under-23 T10 exhibition match in Antigua.

Isaiah O'Brien, Keegan Jones, Sa-Qui Robinson, and Zeri Tomlinson will feature in the showcase on Sunday, November 1st at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

Organised alongside the heads of government summit under the theme "One Commonwealth, One Team", the fixture brings together elite youth talent from across member nations to highlight sportsmanship, cultural exchange, and international athletic pathways.

All four players recently graduated from Bermuda's Under-19 national programme and represent the vanguard of the island's next generation. Three of the selected players are currently balancing competitive cricket with overseas higher education, while one is working locally in Bermuda with plans to pursue university studies.

The call-ups stem directly from a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) forged between Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) president Lloyd Smith and Cricket West Indies (CWI).

That partnership has already paid dividends on the technical side, having facilitated the secondment of former West Indies Test coach Andre Coley as an international high-performance consultant.

Operational delivery of the agreement is driven through regular quarterly strategy meetings between BCB executive director Cal Blankendal and CWI director of cricket Miles Bascombe, geared toward establishing sustainable, elite regional pathways for Bermudian talent.

The initiative forms part of a wider BCB strategy to widen international exposure across three key pillars:

Player Development Pathways: Direct inclusion in premier regional fixtures, tournaments, and elite development camps across the West Indies.
Technical Exchange: Collaborative coaching secondments, mentoring, and technical clinics designed to raise elite standards.
Umpiring & Match Officiating: Practical opportunities for local officials to gain accreditation and experience on the regional circuit.
