Bermudians Abroad Frazzoni and Burch-Waldron Cup Success

IslandStats.com
Eva Frazzoni and K’Shaela Burch-Waldron both tasted victory on a busy weekend of domestic and international cup action in England, while Khano Smith's Rhode Island FC endured late drama on the final day of the USL Championship regular season.

From cup progress in the UK to high-stakes playoff positioning in the United States and Serie A action in Italy, Bermuda's overseas contingent featured prominently across the football pyramid.

In the Eastern Region Women's Football League Cup, Bermuda international Eva Frazzoni played her part in an authoritative performance as AFC Sudbury Women dispatched Hertford Town FC Women 3-0 at the Elite Travel Stadium. Sudbury controlled proceedings from the outset to secure smooth passage into the next round.

Across London, there was further joy for Bermudian talent as K’Shaela Burch-Waldron made an impactful return to Sutton United Women's starting XI. In an entertaining, end-to-end clash at the David Weir Sports Centre, Sutton held off a spirited Wanderers side to claim a hard-fought 3-2 victory.

In Italy's Serie A Women Athora, midfielder Leilanni Nesbeth was an unused substitute as Como Women earned a resilient point on the road against Lazio. In a tightly contested round-four encounter at the Stadio Mirko Fersini in Formello, neither side was able to make the breakthrough, leaving the points shared in a 0-0 draw.

Across the Atlantic in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), Mia Fishel and Seattle Reign FC also played out a scoreless stalemate against Utah Royals FC at America First Field.

The 0-0 draw sets up a grandstand finish to the regular season, with Seattle's playoff fate resting on a crucial showdown next Sunday, 1 November, against Orlando Pride at Lumen Field, where a victory will secure their postseason berth.

There was bitter disappointment for head coach Khano Smith, whose Rhode Island FC saw victory slip away in the closing moments of their 2026 USL Championship regular season finale.

Travelling to face rivals Hartford Athletic at Trinity Health Stadium, RIFC took an early lead and appeared well on course for all three points. However, the hosts produced a dramatic late turnaround, striking twice in the closing stages to snatch a 2-1 win. Despite a frantic late siege on the Hartford goal, Rhode Island fell just short of salvaging an equaliser.

Meanwhile in the English non-league tiers, Bermuda youth international Malachi Henry has completed a move to AFC Borrowash Victoria.

The former Binfield FC defender has linked up with the Derby-based outfit to bolster their promotion push and wasted no time making an impression. Henry was handed his full debut away to Worksop Town's reserves in cup action on Tuesday night, putting in a composed and assured display at the back as he swiftly settled into his new surroundings.
