Bermudian swimmer Thomas Cechini made a solid start for Loyola University Maryland on day one of the Thomas Murphy Invitational, claiming seventh place in the 500-yard freestyle preliminaries in Baltimore.
Taking to the pool at the Mangione Aquatic Center, Cechini clocked a sharp time of 4 minutes 37.34 seconds in the Men's 500 Freestyle Open prelims to seal a top-eight finish in a competitive collegiate field.
The performance secures a strong platform for the Bermudian sophomore and earns valuable early points for the host Greyhounds as they look to mount another commanding title defence on home turf across the three-day meet.
