Bermudian defender Shantia Berkeley and her Durham College women's soccer team were unable to maintain an early advantage, slipping to a narrow 2-1 defeat against Algonquin in their regular season finale.
The Lords got off to the ideal start on the road when Chloe Hercia broke the deadlock in the 13th minute, applying a clinical finish to hand the visitors an early cushion.
However, Algonquin mounted an immediate response. The hosts drew level just seven minutes later before striking again in the 27th minute, turning the contest on its head to send Durham into the interval trailing 2-1.
Durham pushed hard for a route back into the match after the restart, ramping up the pressure and forcing five second-half corner kicks. Despite registering two efforts on target in the second period to match Algonquin's overall tally of five shots on goal, the decisive equaliser proved elusive.
At the back, Berkeley and the Lords backline stood firm to keep Algonquin off the scoresheet in the second half, restricting the hosts to just two attempts across the final 45 minutes. Goalkeeper Kadi Sutherland produced two saves in 65 minutes of action before Breanne Cullaton stepped in between the posts to make one stop over the closing 25 minutes.
With the regular season concluded, Durham quickly shift their focus to the post-season, turning their attention to the upcoming 2026 OCAA Women's Soccer Championship qualifiers.
