Bermuda's Lauren Cardwell was on the scoresheet as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues launched their three-game homestand in emphatic fashion, sweeping aside the Western Mustangs 5-0 at Back Campus Fields.
The Blues dictated proceedings from the opening whistle, producing a relentless attacking display to claim a commanding shut-out victory and cement their dominance on home turf.
Toronto wasted little time stamping their authority on the contest, opening the scoring after just eight minutes. Second-year forward Allie Lavis set the tone, crashing into the circle and sliding a low finish past Mustangs goalkeeper Mackenzie Gladman.
The home side doubled their advantage ten minutes later through a moment of individual quality. Fourth-year forward Ava Airnes collected possession inside the final third and unleashed a clinical strike into the top corner, leaving Gladman with no chance.
The pressure remained relentless, and Toronto extended their cushion to three before the interval. First-year midfielder Maddy Kim reacted quickest in the 26th minute to steer home an insurance marker, sending the Blues into the break with complete control of the match.
Any hopes of a Western resurgence were firmly extinguished in the fourth quarter as Toronto maintained their tempo.
In the 51st minute, Cardwell made her mark on the scoresheet. The fourth-year Bermudian midfielder timed her intervention to perfection, applying a decisive finish from a well-worked penalty corner routine to stretch the advantage to 4-0.
Third-year defender Jada Mendonca rounded off a dominant afternoon for the Blue and White six minutes later, driving a powerful effort past Gladman from the top of the shooting circle to cap a polished team performance.
At the other end, goalkeepers Mary Yang and Megan Kirkpatrick shared duties between the posts, combining effectively to preserve a deserved clean sheet and secure all three points.
