Bermudians Feature Across English Pyramid

IslandStats.com
Bermudian goalkeeper Nathan Trott and his Cardiff City side produced a resilient display on the road, returning to South Wales with a hard-earned point after a breathless four-goal thriller against high-flying Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

The Bluebirds caught the hosts off guard during an electric opening forty-five minutes. Jack Moylan broke the deadlock with a sharp finish before Ollie Tanner doubled the advantage, handing Cardiff a commanding two-goal cushion at the interval.

Middlesbrough responded with relentless pressure following the restart. Tommy Conway reduced the deficit to spark the comeback, and Will Lankshear subsequently restored parity with an emphatic equaliser.

Cardiff’s task became even steeper in the closing stages when Gabe Osho was shown a red card, but Trott and his defensive unit stood firm under sustained pressure to preserve a well-merited draw from their lengthy journey north.

In League One, Nahki Wells endured a difficult afternoon on the road as Luton Town suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat against Milton Keynes Dons at Stadium MK.

Despite creating opportunities to dictate terms, the Hatters were unable to overturn the deficit against a sharp Dons outfit, leaving Wells and his teammates empty-handed.

Bermuda had contrasting representation in the Emirates FA Cup fourth round qualifying, where places in the coveted first round proper were at stake.

At the Beehive, Juttore Burgess watched on as an unused substitute while his Harborough Town teammates secured passage into the next round with a clinical 3-1 triumph over Spennymoor Town. The victory ensures the Leicestershire club will feature in Monday’s first round draw.

There was no such luck for Willie Clemons and Leiston, whose cup run came to an abrupt halt at the Flannery Stadium. Visitors Guiseley took full control of the tie, running out comfortable 3-0 winners to extinguish the home side’s hopes of reaching the proper stages.

Further down the English football pyramid, Bermudian talent produced a flurry of decisive moments across a packed fixture card.

At the Grove, Milan Butterfield anchored the midfield to help Halesowen Town claim a gritty 2-1 victory over Hitchin Town.

Harry Twite also celebrated an away success, playing his part as Basford United travelled to the Mortgages For You Stadium to take on Boston Town and returned with a 2-1 win.

The most emphatic result of the weekend belonged to CJ Fubler and Brighton Morrison, who were both heavily involved as Binfield ran riot at Hill Farm Lane. The Isthmian League clash turned into a rout as the home side dismantled Littlehampton Town in a 6-1 demolition.

Jakeem Jennings enjoyed a similarly dominant afternoon in the Central Midlands Alliance League Camper UK Premier Division South. His Borrowash Victoria side turned in a ruthless attacking masterclass, brushing aside Bakewell Town 4-0.

Elsewhere, Reggie Lambe found himself on the wrong end of a five-goal thriller at the GBS Stadium, where Ipswich Wanderers slipped to a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat against Great Yarmouth Town.

Ayleal Dill endured an afternoon to forget for Southwell City. The forward was dismissed after receiving two yellow cards in quick succession as his side succumbed to a 2-1 loss against Clipstone.

Meanwhile, Daizhari Tucker oversaw a resolute defensive performance from the dugout. His Worcester Raiders side travelled to Winterfield Road to take on Paulton Rovers in the Southern Football League, battling through ninety minutes to earn a disciplined goalless draw.
