Bermudian Olympian Erica Hawley is set to return to the global stage this weekend as she lines up in the elite women’s field at the 2026 World Triathlon Cup Beijing.
The standard-distance test will see athletes tackle a challenging Olympic-format course framed by the picturesque backdrop of Yanqi Lake, located in Beijing's Huairou district.
The action begins on the eastern waterfront of the lake, where competitors face a 1.5-kilometre swim consisting of two clockwise laps of 750 metres before heading into transition.
Once onto the bikes, athletes will face a demanding 40-kilometre leg broken into eight 5km circuits. Departing the transition area, the route travels south along Yanqi Lake Road, carving through the internal roads of Wild Goose and East Sunrise Beijing. A tight left turn directs the peloton onto Yanqi Lake South Road, extending to the technical turnaround at Jingjia Road before looping back to base.
The race will culminate in a fast-paced 10-kilometre run, contested over four laps of a 2.5km course. Heading north along Yanqi Lake’s perimeter road to the Jingjia Road turnaround point, the out-and-back circuit offers little shelter and will place a premium on pacing and stamina in the closing stages.
Hawley arrives in China aiming to build on strong World Cup performances earlier this season, looking to assert herself on the international circuit against a competitive world-class field.
