The Bermuda Ball Hockey Winter League made an emphatic return at the PCC Hockey Rink, delivering an 11-goal opening night across a fiercely contested double-header.
Defending a reputation for high-octane drama, the league wasted no time getting up to speed, with Positive Image Dental laying down an early marker in a one-sided opener before BDA Spirits edged a five-goal thriller in the nightcap.
In the season opener, Positive Image Dental fired a clear warning shot across the division with a ruthless 5–1 dismantling of Alexandra Mosher.
Adam Mattatal proved the catalyst in a clinical attacking display, leading the line with a sharp two-goal haul. His offensive rhythm was well supported by a balanced forward unit, with Chris Allington, Will Langford, and Fannie Grenier all finding the back of the net to seal an emphatic opening-night victory.
Alexandra Mosher struggled to contain Dental’s fluid transitions, though Nathan Kowalski managed to break through and provide a solitary consolation strike for his side.
If the curtain-raiser was a showcase of clinical finishing, the subsequent clash between Spine & Sport and BDA Spirits delivered pure tension, with Spirits eventually holding on for a hard-fought 3–2 win.
A balanced offensive effort saw BDA Spirits spread the scoring burden evenly. Precision finishes from Jeff Loper, Pete Brodsky, and Josh Prodger proved just enough to carve out the decisive margin in an end-to-end encounter.
Spine & Sport pushed them all the way in a physical contest, answering back through goals from Jake Fenske and Brett Shirreffs. Despite sustained late pressure to force an equalizer, Spirits’ rearguard held firm under fire to pocket maximum points on the opening night of the campaign.
